As many as 13 people died and 25 got injured after a truck rammed into a baraat (marriage procession) on NH -13 in Choti Sadri in Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan.
According to the police, the incident took place on Monday late night when a marriage procession was on its way at Ramdevra in Pratapgarh. The injured have been taken to the nearby hospitals and those critical have been admitted to hospital in Udaipur. Soon after the accident, police, as well as the district administration, reached on the spot.
In wake of the incident, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot tweeted, "Deeply saddened to hear about the tragic accident on NH-113 in Chhoti Sadri, #Pratapgarh in which many people have lost their lives and several have been injured. My heartfelt condolences to the grieved families. I pray for speedy recovery of injured people".
The IG Udaipur range, Prafulla Kumar confirmed, "Twelve people are dead and 25 are injured. Three others are critical. Police is in search of the truck driver. Injured have been taken to the hospital".
According to the sources, the bride is also injured and is getting treated at a nearby hospital. However, the truck driver is absconding from the spot.
