<p>Wildlife Crime Control Bureau has sent 19 Indian star tortoises to Arignar Anna Zoological Park (AAZP) here for rehabilitation, after they were illegally exported from here and seized in Indonesia.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Indonesian wildlife authorities seized the rare species of tortoises illegally exported from India during November last and sent them back here last night, a WCCB release said.<br /><br />Going by the provisions of Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES), the seized amphibians were sent to the quarantine enclosure of AAZP here. After a stipulated time they will be released into the wild, it said.<br /><br />Indian star tortoise is a scheduled species under the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and also has been listed under Appendix II of CITES, it added.</p>
