<p>The arrests come 12 days after Professor Siras, suspended of his duties because of his sexual orientation, was found dead in mysterious circumstances at his rented accommodation in Aligarh.<br /><br />The scribes, identified as Adil and Siraj, were arrested on Sunday night on the charges of forcibly entering Siras’ house on February 8 and causing physical harm to him, Superintendent of Police Man Singh Chauhan said on Monday.<br /><br />Siras, a Reader in Marathi, was suspended by the varsity after the sting operation came to light. His suspension was later revoked by the Allahabad High Court but he died a day before the varsity issued an order reinstating him. <br /><br />Chauhan said the professor had lodged an FIR with the police after the sting operation naming three journalists and four senior AMU officials, including the proctor and the PRO of the university. He said the other persons named in the FIR may also be quizzed very soon. <br />The channel, TV 100, had earlier said in a written statement that the services of the two scribes had been terminated before the sting operation.<br /><br />Siras was found dead in his rented house on April 7.
