Finally, Soren resigns

Last Updated 30 May 2010, 19:51 IST

Soren called on Governor M O H Farook around 9.45 pm and submitted his papers.
The governor had asked Soren to prove his majority by May 31 after its ally, the BJP, withdrew support on May 24.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morch  supremo’s son Hemant Soren told the media near Raj Bhavan that the decision in this regard was taken as JMM failed to cobble up the requisite number to prove its strength on the floor of House.

“We held parleys with some parties to garner their support but as they refused to support us, Guruji (Soren) submitted his resignation,” said Hemant.

Replying to a query, Hemant said that all options were open to form an alternative government.
