Ex-Army personnel and star medal awardee drives auto-rickshaw on Hyderabad streets to earn his bread and butter. Sheik Abdul Kareem received a special award for his contribution in the1971 Indo-China war. During the Indira Gandhi reign due to a surplus of Army personnel, several were removed from their postings. The 71-year-old served in the Army for 9 years but is now homeless and is fighting daily for a living. Kareem requested the government for financial support in the form of a pension and shelter
