<p>Operations in Andhra Pradesh’s newest airport at Kadapa will begin on Sunday when a flight from Bengaluru touches down on its tarmac. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Built at a cost of Rs 42 crore by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Kadapa is part of the plan to promote regional and remote area connectivity in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. <br /><br />Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju will be present at Kadapa Airport when the first flight lands at 11.30 am on Sunday. <br /><br />“The airport has a new compact pre-fabricated terminal building with a capacity to handle 100 peak hour passengers at a time,” a statement said.<br /><br />The runway with dimension 1719m x 45m is capable of handling ATR-72 type aircraft operations. The new apron can accommodate three ATR-72 type aircrafts.</p>
