‘24 Ayush research centres planned across country'’

SDM College Of Naturopathy And Yogic Sciences has been awarded a centre of excellence for Clinical Research Centre in Naturopathy and Yoga, by the Ministry of Ayush.

The centre is to make a study on Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, said Union Minister for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik.

He was speaking after laying the foundation for the research centre at Ujire on Monday.

The minister said such research centres will be sanctioned to 33 institutes in the country in the future. “The centre will support in improving the skills of the doctors and funds to take up research and upgrade laboratory. Awareness will be created among the masses on Naturopathy,” he explained.

Further, he said that the Ministry will open 24 Ayush research centres in the country. “Modern lifestyle and food system are responsible for several diseases in mankind. Majority of the diseases can be cured through Naturopathy. There is a need to conduct scientific research and study on naturopathy and yoga,” he added.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade lauded the Ministry for promoting Ayurveda and Naturopathy.

“There is a need to conduct research in Naturopathy. Employment should be provided to graduates in Naturopathy. A uniform system of curriculum should be introduced for Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences across the country,” he suggested.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Vice Chancellor Dr S Sacchidananda said that the integrated system of medicines will help in curing diseases and highlighted a private hospital in Kasargod curing elephantiasis by integrating various system of medicines.

The minister handed over the order copy on centre of excellence for Clinical Research Centre in Naturopathy and Yoga to SDM institutions secretary Dr B Yashovarma.
