<p>Ripponpet (Shivamogga): A nearly 3,500-year-old dolerite stone ring has been found on the premises of the Hindlemane Government Lower Primary School at Karigerasu village in Shivamogga's Hosanagar taluk.</p><p>This ring discovered by teacher Hanumanthappa serves as evidence of the early days of human settlement in the area.</p><p>According to historian Ajay Sharma, the dolerite stone ring was used before the invention of iron for submerging nets in water for fishing and polishing beads.</p><p>The stone found near the school has been identified through studies as belonging to the period between 1500 BCE and 800 BCE (before the Common Era), he informed.</p>
