353 students lose marks in PUC, after re-evaluation

Last Updated 27 May 2019, 17:18 IST

Some of the candidates, who had applied for re-evaluation of their second year Pre-University course answer script of March/April 2019 exams with the hope of getting more marks, ended up losing marks!

Of the 13,370 applications received for re-evaluation, 353 candidates have lost marks. However, 2,407 candidates gained marks.

As it is negative marking in PUE department, if the candidate gets minus 6 marks during re-evaluation, she/he will end up losing them. In case they get more than 6 marks, it would be plus.

After this, the candidates who lost marks started approaching the department requesting to retain their earlier marks. But there is no option in PUE department rules to retain the earlier marks.

“This is why we advise students to double check before applying for re-evaluation. Now some have lost marks which cannot be retained,” said a senior official of the department.

“Many students are approaching us asking that if the marks can be reverted? But there is no such provision,” added official.

To be penalised

Meanwhile, teachers who evaluated the answer scripts and the marks difference of five in the re-valuation will be penalised.

“The teacher who originally evaluated answer scripts that saw a change in their scores of five and above during the revaluation would be penalised,” said official.

As per the department policy in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science subjects, if the marks vary plus or minus four, then the same will be applied. And for other subjects, this is plus or minus 6.

However, in case of those who have gained marks, the fee paid by the candidate for revaluation will be refunded.
