The tug-of-war between Housing Minister M H Ambareesh and Mandya district Congress President M S Atmananda surfaced again on Sunday.

The supporters of Ambareesh have petitioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that Atmananda should not be allowed to continue as district party president for his alleged anti-party activities.

Atmananda was keen to contest from Mandya Assembly constituency but distanced himself from the party after the ticket was offered to Ambareesh. He had also stayed away from campaigning for the party in the polls. However, Atmananda participated in a meeting convened by KPCC President G Parameshwara last week to discuss preparations for Lok Sabha polls. This development has irked Ambareesh who feels Atmananda has no place in the party.
