Another maternal death in Karnataka, kin allege medical negligence

This comes after the maternal deaths in Ballari which caused a political uproar as well.

Chitradurga: A lactating woman reportedly died at the district hospital, and her family members have accused the doctors of medical negligence as the cause.

The deceased, Rojamma (25), was from Jaganurhatti village in Challakere taluk. Dr Roopashree performed a cesarean delivery at the district hospital.

After the delivery, Rojamma returned home but experienced pain at the site of the cesarean stitches. Due to an infection at the wound site, she was admitted to the district hospital on Tuesday. She was also suffering from severe vomiting and diarrhoea.

She passed away on Tuesday evening due to abdominal pain and severe distress, leaving behind a 40-day-old baby.

Rojamma's husband, Venkatesh, and her sister, Sharadamma, have alleged that inadequate treatment by the district hospital doctors led to Rojamma's death.
