Athlete performs ‘Urulu Seve’ at Kukke Temple

Karnataka’s quartermile M R Poovamma on Sunday performed ‘Urulu Seve’ at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple.

After performing ‘Urulu Seve’, she had a darshana of the presiding deity. She also performed the ‘Shesha Seve’ and visited the Adi Subrahmanya Temple.

Speaking to reporters, she said, “I had vowed to perform ‘Urulu Seve’ if I won a gold medal in the Asian Games. I have won gold in relay and a silver in mixed relay.”

She added, “I am training for other international events. I will be leaving for training in Patiala from November 23. We have performed well in the Asian Games. The government has been supporting us after we won the gold medal. Already, the government has given Rs 40 lakh. The chief minister has promised to increase the amount.”
