Beauty pageant winners take part in charity activities

Winners of Envigreen Miss and Mrs Mangaluru 2018 charity pageant event took part in the initiatives aimed at improving the facilities at Valpadi village near Shirthadi in Moodbidri taluk recently.

Envigreen Mrs Mangalore 2018 winner Lyvia D Almeida told media persons at Patrika Bhavan on Thursday that the event, organised by The Rego Events Private Limited, was held in Panabmur beach on December 23. As many as 24 contestants were judged on different aspects, including charity programmes for the society they had in mind, she added.

Amanda Lasrado emerged as the winner in the Miss category, Nishitha Fernandes as first runner-up and Prajnya as second runner-up. Tejaswini Shetty and Anitha Soans emerged as the first-runner up and second runner-up in the Mrs category.

Former MLA Abhayachandra Jain and Organ Donation India Foundation Chairman L Goel took part in the programme.

Lyvia said they distributed blankets, school bags, drawing kits and other things to 110 students of the school and grocery to 30 underprivileged families at the Valpadi charity programme, organised at Anegudde Aided Higher Primary School.

They also disbursed sports items, including carom boards, volleyball, throw ball and cricket kits, to the school. Medals and championship cups for annual day competition winners were also given to the school.

“There are plans to set up roof-top solar panel system. The funds raised from the event Envigreen Miss and Mrs Mangaluru 2018 Limited were distributed to social welfare organisations working for the marginalised sections of the society. Ria Foundation, Samvedana and Karunamaya all received a cheque of Rs 25,000 from the organisers," she added.

Miss category second runner-up Prajnya, Mrs category first runner-up Tejaswini Shetty, Miss photogenic Prajmya and mustard princess Swathi S Kulal were also present at the press meet.
