<p>Alert immigration officials at the Kempegowda International Airport caught a 30-year-old Bangladesh national who was trying to board a flight to<br />Dubai using an Indian passport in the early hours of Monday.</p>.<p>The accused Afsar Miah, a native of Habigang district in Bangladesh, was intercepted by officials during immigration clearance, an official said.</p>.<p>Immigration officials, during a casual chat, inquired about Miah’s whereabouts following which he gave them a Bhubaneswar address.</p>.<p>Officials found that Afsar was speaking Bengali with a Bangladeshi accent. On suspicion, the officials picked him up for detailed questioning, after which Afsar confessed that he had illegally entered India from Bangladesh through the porous borders and stayed in Bhubaneswar for four years.</p>.<p>Afsar told officials that he was selling readymade clothes on the streets of Bhubaneswar and stayed in a rented house for four years. During his stay, he got acquainted with the locals, saying he was from West Bengal. He then managed to get a voter’s ID, Aadhaar card and PAN card in the name of Absar Ali. Using these documents, he applied and got the passport in Bhubaneswar in 2015.</p>.<p>Using the passport, Afsar went to Saudi Arabia where he worked for three years as a labourer and returned to Bhubaneswar in March 2018.</p>.<p>Afsar also confessed that he managed to go to Malaysia after obtaining a work visa there. However, Malaysian immigration officials intercepted him and deported him to India. After waiting for a while, Afsar, with the help of his friends in Dubai, managed to obtain a long-term work visa in Dubai in September and came to KIA on Monday to board the flight.</p>.<p>Afsar has been booked under various sections of Foreigners Act and Passport Act and was handed over to the airport police for further investigation.</p>
