<p>The BBMP has identified 9,891 property tax defaulters in Mahadevapura zone.</p>.<p>N C Jagadeesh, joint commissioner of Mahadevapura zone, has issued notices to tax defaulters in the zone to pay at the earliest.</p>.<p>According to a press release by the Department of Information and Public Relations, Karnataka, the BBMP officials in Mahadevapura zone will seize properties, if the owners fail to pay up within the stipulated time.</p>.<p>In 2018-19, the BBMP has collected Rs 511 crore from the zone so far, as against the estimated Rs 800 crore. The civic body has served notices to a total of 9,891 properties in the zone, including Whitefield, Hoodi, Marathahalli, KR Puram, Horamavu and HAL.</p>.<p>The top 500 defaulters in the zone have to pay a sum of Rs 29.93 crore to the civic body.</p>.<p><span class="bold">Award proposed </span></p>.<p>Meanwhile, the BBMP has proposed an award for revenue officials who are successful in collecting 100% property tax from their wards.</p>.<p>With an aim to augment tax collection from property owners in the city, BBMP ruling party leader M Shivaraju has proposed that Palike officials, who successfully collect 100% property tax from their wards, be nominated for the Kempegowda awards.</p>.<p>Shivaraju has written to Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun on Thursday, proposing the same.</p>
