Irrespective of the outcome of the BDA board meeting, the government has issued orders to allot sites, he told DH.<br /><br />Sites will be allotted under a computerised lottery system, just as BDA flats are allotted. Allottees will not be intimated individually. No applications or letters will be sent to them. Each allottee will be communicated only on the day the sites are allotted. <br /><br />“Arkavathy Layout allottees will get sites of the same dimension but without any preference for location. Such an allotment is happening for the first time in the BDA’s history. I have already instructed the engineering section to identify the areas where vacant sites can be created and allotted to people. The list of sites along with their dimension and locations will be ready by July,” Basavaraju said. <br /><br />Arkavathy allottees, however, are apprehensive of accepting sites in Kempegowda Layout. They say the infrastructure in the new housing colony is still not ready in most places. And places where settlements have come up are too crowded. “Kempegowda Layout is far away from the city. We want sites in Arkavathy Layout as this area is being developed and is closer to the airport. We had invested in northern Bengaluru, but the BDA and the government want us to shift to western Bengaluru where development is patchy. The government wants to placate people before the elections. But this is not acceptable,” said Mahesh, an Arkavathy Layout allottee. <br /><br />Some people are also skeptical of being allotted sites in Kempegowda Layout as previous allottees had returned 435 sites to the BDA citing financial constraints. <br /><br />Other Arkavathy Layout allottees want clarity about the 10-year lease-cum-sale deed clause imposed on Kempegowda Layout allottees. “We don’t want to enter into this contract with the BDA which didn’t give us sites on time,” said Kumar, another BDA allottee. <br /><br />The BDA could take a final decision on the matter at the next meeting of its board. <br />DH News Service</p>
