Bengaluru experiences driest July since 2019

Bengaluru: This July was the driest for Bengaluru since 2019, with the city recording just 87.5 mm of rainfall against the month’s average of 116.4 mm, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

District-wise data from the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) showed that Bengaluru Urban and Rural, along with 10 other districts, received deficit rainfall in July.

"The absence of a trough or circulation in the lower troposphere over interior Karnataka and spatial and temporal rainfall variability is very common,” said Dr N Poovarasi, Scientist 'E' at the IMD.

Bengaluru is forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days. Interior Karnataka typically receives more rain in July and August, which helps reduce the existing deficiency, he added.
