Bengaluru: Japan-based industrial automation company OMRON on Wednesday opened a new automation centre in Bengaluru. The centre is a part of OMRON’s global network of 44 Automation Centres and Proof of Concept (POC) labs, and it will serve manufacturers across the country, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

With Japan committing ¥10 trillion in investments over the next decade across sectors such as semiconductors and digital industries, the centre contributes to a shared ambition of positioning India as a trusted global hub for smart manufacturing and innovation, OMRON said.

To begin with, the centre will employ 50 people with highly specialised skills, and it will scale up further. Motohiro Yamanishi, Company President, Industrial Automation Company, OMRON Corporation, Japan, said, “We see immense potential in the dynamism of India's manufacturing sector. The centre underscores India's profound importance to our global as well as Asia Pacific vision and is designed to work hand-in-hand with local partners to enhance their global competitiveness and jointly address evolving societal needs through innovative automation."

Sameer Gandhi, Managing Director, OMRON Automation, India, said the centre takes a solutions-based approach to help Indian manufacturers tackle the challenges of building safer workplaces, delivering higher quality products, and improving efficiencies. "This is about more than automation; it's about participating towards creating a manufacturing ecosystem that has an active role in protecting public health, reducing waste, and driving economic growth," Gandhi added.

With a CAGR of over 15 per cent since 2013 and more than 20 per cent in the last three years, OMRON Automation in India is poised to continue this by targeting over 15 per cent CAGR and achieving a turnover of Rs 600 crore in FY25. The newly established centre will also support the skill development of over 1,000 industry engineers annually.

"Bengaluru is the ideal hub for this centre. Its culture of innovation, combined with a central location and superior connectivity, allows us to efficiently serve industrial clients across South, West, and North India," Gandhi said.

The centre is a dynamic hub where an experienced team of specialists facilitate demonstrations and interactions with manufacturers around a comprehensive suite of advanced technology-based solutions, including sensing, control, machine vision, safety, robotics, and AI-driven technologies developed by OMRON as well as its global and regional partners, the company said.

The solutions are designed to support key manufacturing regions across India, spanning sectors such as electric mobility, digital, food and commodities, logistics, and pharmaceuticals, among others.
