Bengaluru road rage case: Karnataka High Court directs cops to take no coercive action against IAF officer

Bengaluru: In a conditional interim order, the High Court of Karnataka has directed the Bengaluru police not to take any coercive action against Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose in a criminal case registered against him in connection with a road rage incident.

Bose was involved in a fistfight with BPO employee Vikas Kumar SJ on Old Madras Road, East Bengaluru, on Monday.

Justice Hemant Chandanagoudar issued notices to the Baiyappanahalli police and Kumar.

"The police shall not take any coercive action and shall not summon the petitioner without following due procedure of law. The petitioner shall cooperate with the investigation. The charge sheet shall not be submitted without leave of this court,” the court said.

Bose had challenged the FIR registered under BNS sections 109, 115(2), 304, 324 and 352, and the consequential proceedings pending before a city court.

He had recorded a video of himself bleeding and claimed he was attacked by Kumar. The police initially registered an FIR against Kumar and arrested him.

However, further investigation — aided by CCTV footage — revealed that it was Bose who had brutally attacked Kumar and thrown away his phone and other belongings during the road rage incident. After securing bail, Kumar filed a counter-complaint against Bose for attempted murder and other offences.
