<p>Bengaluru: Education is not anyone's possession; it is a right that everyone deserves, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Saturday. </p>.<p>He was speaking at the 25th anniversary programme of the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Women’s Association. The event commemorated the 300th birth anniversary of Maratha queen Ahilyabai Holkar, known for her courage and public works. </p>.<p>"When a woman is educated, the entire family gets educated," he noted. </p>.<p>He recalled how Ahilyabai married off her daughter to a man from a different caste. </p>.Bengaluru stampede: Justice Cunha submits report to CM Siddaramaiah.<p>The chief minister called for eradicating gender inequalities to achieve woman empowerment. </p>.<p>"Inequality is still practised even though many personalities like Basavanna, BR Ambedkar and Buddha strived against evil practices. Women must have equal opportunities as men," he added. </p>.<p>Achievers from different fields were felicitated at the event. Kannada book 'Sthree Ratna Rani Ahilyabai Holkar' was also released. </p>.<p>Minister for Urban Development and Town Planning Byrathi Suresh, Eshwarananda Puri Swami of the Hosadurga Mutt and others were present on the occasion. </p>
