<p> The BBMP Council has deferred the discussion on the bifurcation of the civic agency till its next meeting. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Mayor B S Satyanarayana cited an important meeting on solid waste management with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as the reason for deferring the discussion on the subject.<br /> Ahead of the council meeting, the Bangalore Nirmapaka Kempegowda Kendra Samithi held a protest outside the BBMP office against the bifurcation. The group said that bifurcating a historic city like Bangalore could not be a solution to the problem. The general secretary of the Samithi alleged that problems arose in the absence of a sincere and honest administration. <br /><br />Transport and District In-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy had written a letter to the Chief Minister on the bifurcation of the BBMP. <br /><br />He had given examples of Mumbai, Kolkata and London that have more than one municipal bodies to cater to the growing needs of the respective cities. <br /><br />Detailed discussion<br /><br />He said he had a detailed discussion with the former chief secretary A Ravindra, senior officers and urban experts to address the growing needs of Bangalore, and they advocated division of the Palike. <br /></p>
