Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday appealed to the masses not punish the BJP government for not having built the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Addressing a gathering at an interactive event organised by the Rajajinagar based Thinkers Forum organisation, Sitharaman said, "Your high standards of expectations should not be used for this election like saying that ' no you have didn't build the Ram temple in Ayodhya’. Because the temple couldn't build don't punish us. I am giving this example because it is very close to my heart.”
“Regarding Ram temple, we have approached the Supreme Court to give us the excess land. There are issues, but have faith in the government,” she added.
Sitharaman also pointed out that people should not fall for silly reasons like fair and charming young leaders.
