Despite the high court ban, the streets of Sagayapuram ward in the city flaunt posters of corporator V Elumalai (40), who died on December 5.

According to Elumalai’s family, the flexes have been installed to remember the contributions made by the corporator. “It is true that one of our own family members has put up flexes across the locality. We will remove it in a few days,” said one of Elumalai’s relatives, who did not wish to be named.

When asked, a senior BBMP official said he was unaware of any such flexes and banners in the ward and will ensure they are pulled down.

Elumalai, an independent candidate from Sagayapuram ward, was admitted to Santhosh Hospital in Frazer Town to get a small abscess removed from his nose. However, after undergoing the procedure, he slipped into coma and died a few days later. His family members charged the hospital with medical negligence.
