After the success of Charminar, director R Chandru and actor Prem were eager to work together again. And that’s when the story of Male came into the picture. But this time around, director R Chandru will only produce the film and Tejas, who assisted him in earlier films like ‘Taj Mahal’, Prem Kahani and Charminar, will make his debut as a director.

.
About making the movie under his production house, ‘R Chandru Movies’, he says, “I had told myself that if my film Charminar becomes a hit, I will give a chance to new directors. Since I have seen his (Tejas) work and I am sure that he will do a good job. Anyway the script is mine.”

Since the production team was the same, even the actor had no issues in joining in again. “I share a very strong friendship with Prem. Since we were keen to work together, he had no issues with being directed by a newcomer in my production house,” adds Chandru. The movie has a youthful story, and in true Chandru style, has a romantic angle to it as well. “It is a beautiful love story of today and not based on any incident. This story is my own imagination. I was supposed to start it before Charminar, but could not proceed. Now I have left the responsibility to Tejas,” he explains.

Chandru goes on to add that there will be a sea of difference between Charminar and Male. “While Charminar focussed more on a mature side of love, this movie will be about a young love,” he adds. Prem too has changed his entire look for the film. Looking more leaner and donning a different attire, Prem looks like a college student. “That’s what we were going for as well. We needed Prem to look like a college boy and after the photoshoot, we were really amazed by his dedication and preparation towards his character,” says Chandru.

It was earlier reported that Charminar will be made in Telugu as well. Chandru, who is busy with Upendra-starrer Bramha, says that the Telugu project will start soon. “We are keeping the crux of the story but will tweak it a bit. We have roped in Naga Chaitanya to play the lead role in the remake. Once Bramha is completed,
I will move on to that film,” wraps up Chandru.
