Four persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a habitual offender, over a love affair, near Ramchandrapura bus station on May 3.

The Gangamma Gudi police arrested Prasad, Venu, Mahesh and Manikata for killing David D, a rowdy-sheeter, and a resident of Dodda Bommasandra near Vidyaranyapura.

A senior police officer said David and Venu were in love with the same girl and they had fights over the issue. Venu with the help of his friends decided to kill David.

The officer said that David was involved in rowdy activities from 2006 and there were cases of burglary and robbery against him. However, for nine months he was working as an ambulance driver in HMT hospital.

The assailants came near Ramachandrapura Bus station in two autorickshaws with machetes and other lethal weapons.

Prasad had invited David for a party and all of them consumed alcohol in the autorickshaws till 10.30 pm. David was also drunk and when he wanted to leave, the gang attacked him with machetes and lethal weapons. They severed his head and threw it on the premises of a private school, 100 meters away from the crime scene.
