HC notice to govt on info on advocates

The Karnataka High Court has issued a notice to the state government while hearing a petition challenging the rejection of the petitioner's application seeking information with regard to the HC notification pertaining to designating 18 advocates as senior advocates.

The court was hearing a petition filed by M Veerabhadraiah, an advocate who has moved the court seeking directions to quash the communication dated November 24, 2018, issued by the Deputy Registrar and Public Information Officer, Karnataka High Court rejecting his application seeking information.

The petitioner challenged the validity and correctness of the rules framed by the state government in the exercise of its power under section 27 of the RTI Act 2005

The petitioner had filed an application under section 6 and 7 of the Right to Information Act, 2005 seeking some information and copies of some documents which was rejected by the Deputy Registrar.
