The High Court of Karnataka on Monday directed the government to submit all the original records pertaining to the investigation into the disappearance of Kumar Ajitabh, a techie, in a sealed envelope during the next hearing.

Ajitabh (29), a city-based software engineer, had posted an advertisement on an online portal to sell his car. He was reported missing from the city after he went to meet a prospective buyer on December 18.

On Monday, the government submitted a status report with regard to the investigation before the court.

Justice Aravind Kumar was hearing a petition filed by Ashok Kumar Sinha, father of Ajitabh. The petitioner has sought directions to hand over the probe to the CBI. The petitioner submitted to the court that it has been close to over six months since Ajitabh went missing, but there was still no development in the case and hence, sought the CBI's intervention. The government, for its part, submitted that it was doing its best with regard to the investigation.

The court adjourned the case hearing to July 5.
