<p>Bengaluru: The<a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/iisc-bengaluru"> Indian Institute of Science (IISc)</a>, <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/iisc-bengaluru">Bengaluru</a>, and the Tata Group announced a partnership on Tuesday to establish the Tata IISc Medical School on the IISc Bengaluru campus.</p><p>As part of the collaboration, the Tata Group will contribute Rs 500 crore to support the development of the medical school.</p><p>In a press statement, the IISc highlighted the vision for the Tata IISc Medical School as a centre of excellence that integrates basic science and engineering with clinical research and medical education. The school will focus on specialised fields such as oncology, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, diabetes and metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, integrative medicine, and public health.</p>.IISc researchers uncover neural mechanisms for chronic pain management .<p>The institution will offer integrated MD-PhD and dual-degree programmes to train a new generation of physician-scientists and medical technologists. These students will receive interdisciplinary training across the medical school and IISc's science and engineering labs, combining cutting-edge clinical practice with scientific research. This model of education and research aims to serve as a blueprint for similar initiatives nationwide.</p><p>"We are deeply grateful to the Tata Group for their generosity," said Prof G Rangarajan, Director of IISc.
