The India Meteorological Department has forecast more rain across the state and Bengaluru for the next two days.

The weatherman has issued a heavy rainfall warning for the next 48 hours. As a part of the exercise, IMD has disseminated information to officers of district administrations, the chief secretary and the chief minister to ensure that all precautions are taken. The department had earlier issued a heavy rainfall warning on June 3 and 6.

IMD-Bengaluru director-in-charge C P Patil said the forecast and heavy rainfall warning have been issued because of the presence of a low pressure area over the north of the Bay of Bengal. This is likely to intensify into a depression within the next 48 hours, which will bring more rain.

He said that heavy rainfall is already occurring in coastal Karnataka, while parts of south interior Karnataka are experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.

On Friday, till 5.30 pm, Bengaluru received 0.7 mm rainfall, while HAL airport received 1.2 mm and the Kempegowda International Airport received trace rainfall.

From June 1 to 7, the city received 27 mm rainfall, which is 7 mm less than the average normal. The HAL airport received 44 mm rainfall, which is 10 mm higher than the average normal.
