Kannada lectures by noted literary critic available online

A series of video lectures by noted literary critic H S Raghavendra Rao on 20th-century Kannada literature is now available on YouTube. Titled ‘Nooru Mara Nooru Swara’ (A Hundred Trees, A Hundred Tunes), the lectures cover various literary phases such as Navodaya, Navya, Bandaya, Dalit literature, and Women’s Writing, as well as genres like poetry, theatre, and criticism.

The series also covers prominent literary figures, including Kuvempu, Shivarama Karanth, Da Ra Bendre, Masti Venkatesha Iyengar, Pu Ti Narasimhachar, K S Narasimhaswamy, Madhurachenna, Gopalakrishna Adiga, Yashwant Chittal, P Lankesh, U R Ananthamurthy, and Poornachandra Tejasvi.

Rao is a senior Kannada literary critic and translator. He is the recipient of several awards, including the Rajyotsava Award, and the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award.

New lectures are released every week and can be accessed for free on Kathana Studio’s YouTube channel (@kathanastudio).
