Ministers and MLAs elected from Bengaluru and MLCs representing the city collectively on Friday advised the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to focus on mobilisation of resources and revenue and better management of civic amenities including parks, streetlights, stormwater drains and scientific management of the solid waste.

Ahead of the BBMP budget for the financial year 2021-22, the BBMP Administrator Gaurav Gupta and Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad sought suggestions from all the elected representatives from the city. In the backdrop of existing 198 wards being further divided into 243 wards with the addition of a few more areas, the representatives, regardless of the political parties, advised the civic body to take up sustainable development of the city in a scientific way besides cautioning the BBMP to plan as per its revenue.

The lawmakers advised the BBMP officials to upgrade the existing B-khata properties to A-khata for better tax collection, cross-verification of properties disclosed under Self-Assessment Scheme, including properties into the tax net, completion of already taken up projects, ensuring pedestrian paths all along the major roads, speeding up development works in 110 villages, rejuvenation of lakes, collection of pending tax dues from defaulters and better management of stormwater drains.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr Ashwathanarayan, Forest and Kannada & Culture Minister Aravind Limbavali and other MLAs and MLCs from BJP, Congress and JDS were present during the meeting.
