Karnataka Rashtra Samithi party workers booked for unauthorised protest

Bengaluru: The Upparpet police have registered a case against office-bearers and over 60 workers of the Karnataka Rashtra Samithi (KRS) for conducting a protest march in Gandhinagar in violation of a High Court order that restricts all protests in Bengaluru to Freedom Park.

The protest took place on September 30, when around 60 to 70 KRS workers marched on 6th Cross and Second Main Road, raising slogans and obstructing public movement. This led to police intervention and arrests.

The issue began a day earlier, on September 29, when KRS Bengaluru West district president Amit Rebello sought permission to hold a peaceful protest at Freedom Park. The request was denied as two other protests had already been approved for the same
date.

Despite this, police allege that party office-bearers went ahead with the protest, mobilising workers via WhatsApp, SMS, and other platforms. The act was seen as a deliberate defiance of both the court's ruling and police directives.

A case was registered at Upparpet police station, and the accused were arrested and later released on station
bail.

Police further stated that after their release, the accused allegedly issued death threats to investigating officers and spread misinformation online.
