Modi’s fans brave Bengaluru rain for a fleeting glimpse of PM

Bengaluru: Umbrellas unfurled against the unrelenting, albeit not very heavy, rain, people, BJP supporters, cutting across ages, lined up the streets of Bengaluru to catch a fleeting glimpse of PM Modi on Sunday. In fact, many supporters had come to Bengaluru from places as far as Kalaburagi to see the PM.

“We just want to have a glimpse of him,” said one such staunch Modi fan, a sentiment that resonated with the hundreds of people who lined the roads, from Mehkri Circle, where the PM’s helicopter landed, all the way to KSR Railway Station in Majestic. All along the way, huge cutouts of Modi towered over the teeming crowds, greeting the PM’s convoy as it wound its way through the heart of the city.

Some supporters could even be spotted dancing, while slogans hailing Modi’s many contributions – his social welfare schemes, development of infrastructure – rent the air.

At the KSR station, Modi flagged off the maiden journey of Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express, which will markedly reduce travel time between the state capital and North Karnataka.

The prime minister’s tryst with trains was not done for the day, as he proceeded from Majestic to the Electronic City Metro Station, where he flagged off operations on the much-delayed Yellow Line of the Namma Metro.

Fans of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar assembled at Ragigudda, and raised slogans to express their support and admiration for him.
