Techie commits suicide over domestic row, husband held

A 32-year-old software engineer committed suicide over a domestic row at her residence in JP Nagar, South Bengaluru.

The victim, Supriya (32), a native of Hubballi, was married to Akshay four years ago. The couple, both working with top multinational companies in Electronics City, have a one-year-old son.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the couple frequently fought over trivial issues. On Sunday also they fought over some issue. In the evening when Supriya was alone at home, she hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her room, said a senior police officer.

The incident came to light when Akshay returned home around 11 pm and informed the police.

The suicide note

The police found a suicide note in which Supriya alleged harassment by Akshay, and she was upset over his affair with a woman.

Supriya’s father Vasudeva Manvi also alleged that his daughter died as she was unable to bear the harassment by Akshay.

Based on the complaint, Akshay, a native of Haveri, was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide and remanded in judicial custody.
