Bengaluru woman accuses male acquaintance of harassment, blackmail

Bengaluru: A woman has alleged that a man has been threatening and blackmailing her to pay him Rs 3 lakh, following which the Nandini Layout police have booked a case.

The 54-year-old woman from Laggere has stated in the FIR that the suspect Dhananjay, with whom she has been acquainted, has threatened to release screenshots of messages from her husband to other women if she failed to pay the money.

She also said Dhananjay sent her messages on September 12, but deleted them later. He also waylaid her on the same day and threatened her with dire consequences.

The Nandini Layout police are investigating the case under sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Probe is on.
