<p>Ashoknagar police have arrested a woman in connection with the murder of her elderly aunt who lived alone in Anepalya. </p>.<p>Police said Dilnaz Banu alias Dilshad was killed on March 4 by her 29-year-old niece Shabana Banu to rob her gold jewellery. Shabana lived at 3rd Cross, Anepalya, while Banu resided in 10th ‘A’ Cross in the same locality. </p>.<p>Police said Shabana, a domestic help, was the daughter of Banu’s younger sister. On March 4, Shabana went to Banu’s house to discuss some financial matters. Noticing that she was alone, the younger woman strangled her and pressed her neck to the ground. After confirming that Banu was dead, Shabana removed the jewellery from her aunt’s person and from elsewhere in the house before fleeing the house. </p>.<p>Banu’s son discovered her body when he came home in the afternoon. Police’s suspicion fell on Shabana as they found out about her visit while checking the CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding buildings. They asked Banu’s son if he knew the woman in the video and got confirmation that she was Banu’s niece. </p>.<p>Shabana confessed to killing her aunt saying she was in financial trouble and had invested money in chit funds. To overcome the problems, she killed Banu, who was financially better off than her other sisters. An investigating officer said police are yet to recover some of the valuables Shabana had robbed. </p>
