Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy stated that the results of byelections to three Lok Sabha seats and two Assembly seats will decide whether the JD(S)-Congress alliance will last or not.
Speaking to the media in Shivamogga on Tuesday, Kumaraswamy said the by-election was a platform to bolster the alliance. He clarified that the by-poll was not an electoral battle between two individuals.
"Congress-JD(S) nominee Madhu Bangarappa is like a brother to me, and I am confident that voters will elect him as MP."
Replying to a question, the chief minister said that the BJP was fighting the election on the "Hindutva" plank. "But Hindutva is not BJP's property. We are also Hindus. We have done more to safeguard the interests of Hindus," Kumaraswamy said.
