<p>Congress Election Publicity Committee District President A N Mahesh ridiculed BJP candidate from Chikmagalur constituency of trying to collect public opinion in public programmes, by claiming that he has brought Rs 800 crore to the constituency for its development during his last five years tenure.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking to media persons on Saturday, he said that when the election itself will reveal the public opinion, what is the necessity for C T Ravi to collect the public opinion now. <br /><br />It seems like the minister is not yet sure of contesting election, in fear of losing it. <br /><br />He appears to be worried about losing the election, since the day the Congress announced K S Shantegowda as its candidate. <br /><br />He is involved in caste politics, by sowing the seeds of casteism among the voters. <br />Despite taking an oath in front of Sirigere seer of not wooing voters and ,holding the election in a transparent manner, the BJP is involved in illegal activities in the form of distribution of money, sari and liquor, he complained.<br /><br />Response to allegations<br /><br />Responding to the allegations made by the BJP and the JD(S) candidates against the Congress candidate for his contract work, A N Mahesh said that Shantegowda has performed well in the district as a contractor and there are no complaints against him. <br />He has also returned his contract licence to the government, he said.<br /></p>
