CID likely to probe serial killer's case

Addressing reporters on the sidelines of an official meeting here on Wednesday he said there was no need for establishing a separate agency to look into the missing cases, especially, of women.

He said the department would give special importance to probe the missing cases on a monthly basis after listing out them during its monthly review meeting of the crime scenario at the district-levels.

To a query on police adding Leelavathi (one of the victims of Mohan) in the suspected Naxals’ list, Singh said the police were yet to confirm whether she had Naxal links.
The DGP said, it was for the first time, State police have got Rs 20 crore exclusively for investigation purposes, which would be utilised efficiently.

Singh honoured the special team that cracked Mohan Kumar’s serial killings. A sum of Rs 1.08 lakh was distributed among the team members.

IGP (Western Range) Gopal Hosur and Superintendent of Police Dr A S Rao took part in a closed-door meeting that followed. Speaking to Deccan Herald later, Dr Rao said the DGP collected opinions of all the police officials at the meeting regarding the serial killing cases. A decision on handing over the case to the CID will be taken in a day or two, he said.
