As many as 7000 employees were evacuated to a safe assembly point at the Embassy Tech Village’s Cisco office in Kadubeesanahalli following a threat call claiming that a bomb would explode in 10 minutes on Friday afternoon.

The Marathahalli police along with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Dog Squad, Anti-Sabotage Squad, and Quick Reaction Team (QRT) rushed to the spot and conducted a detailed combing operation on the premises. As the tech park is huge, even Garuda Force was summoned for the combing and the evacuation process.

Police said, that the call came around 1 pm and the caller spoke in Hindi. He said that a bomb would blast in 10 minutes. The call was made to the Cisco office near Cessna Business Park in Marthahalli.

“It was an Internet call, and we have contacted the Cyber Crime Cell to trace the caller,” said DCP Whitefield Abdul Ahad who was overseeing the combing operation and evacuation process.

Cisco office was in news a couple of days ago after three of its maintenance staff were arrested by the Marathahalli police for stealing Rs. 87 lakh worth lab optics.

The police are probing whether there is a possible connection with the arrest of the trio and the bomb threat. The Marathahalli police are still continuing with the combing and evacuation process after which a case will be registered, said a senior police officer.
