Young talents in the field of literature should be recognised and encouraged, said Somwarpet Government Hospital medical officer Dr Shivaprasad.

He was speaking after releasing ‘Bogase Tumbida Bhava Tunturu’, a collection of poems by S G Gayatri, a class six student at Government Higher Primary School in Chikkakolattur village, near Shanivarasanthe.

Dr Shivaprasad further said, “The students should not be prepared for money-making alone. Subjects such as art and literature provide peace of mind and contentment in life. Involvement in extracurricular activities will help students in the long run.”

Lauding the work by S G Gayatri and her school for encouraging the young poetess, he called upon other students to follow her lead.

Headmaster Chandrashekhar and teacher Kavya delivered the keynote address.

Dundalli Gram Panchayat president Poornima, members D P Bojappa, block resource person Madhu Kumar and child helpline worker Kumari were present.
