<p>Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (Amendment) Bill, which empowers the city corporation to declare any road as a ‘Public Street’ was passed in the Legislative Council on Thursday.</p>.<p>During the debate on the (BBMP) Bill, Deputy Chief Minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/d-k-shivakumar">D K Shivakumar</a>, also the Bengaluru development minister, said, “With this amendment, there will be a provision for public entry and exit on all roads even inside gated communities.”</p>.<p>He informed the House that there are instances of people trying to sell ‘roads’.</p>.<p>“In some of the layouts, despite sites being distributed, the revenue documents still have names of the land owner and we need to renew those documents and to declare even roads inside private layouts as public,” he stated.</p>.Inspired by BBMP's Sahaaya 2.0, Karnataka's forest dept to develop similar grievance redressal system .<p>“There are even cases where land owners are disputing over roads, saying they have given only sites and not the roads and filing appeals. They are doing it just because the government pays TDR. Considering all such issues, we have brought the amendments, “Shivakumar explained to the House.</p>.<p>Shivakumar said that the amendment will be introduced in town municipalities and panchayats in future.</p>.<p>“Roads are property of the government and no one should claim rights on it,” he added.</p>.<p>Speaking about the gated communities, Shivakumar said, “For the already established such gated communities, we will discuss the issue and take decisions. But for all the upcoming projects, the amendments will be applicable.” </p>.<p>The Legislative Assembly has already passed this Bill. </p>.<p><strong>Two more Bills passed</strong></p>.<p>A Bill aimed at establishing an agriculture university in Mandya and an amendment Bill to the Karnataka Public Service Commission were also passed in the Council.</p>
