<p>Police shot in the legs of two robbers when the latter tried to attack the police and flee. The incident is reported under Vidyagiri Police Station limits in Dharwad.</p><p>According to Police Commissioner N Shashikumar, Vidyagiri police received information on Wednesday night that three persons were waylaying the passersby near Police Training College on Kalghtagi Road and trying to rob them. Acting swiftly Vidyagiri police along with staff from other two police stations in the city launched a manhunt for the offenders and finally nabbed one person.</p><p>The arrested person promised to show the place where his associates who were involved in the robbery attempt were hiding and took the police to a layout on the outskirts of Vidyagiri.</p><p>Two persons were standing in the layout and when police tried to nab them, they pelted stones at the police injuring two police personnel. Police warned them to surrender and when the duo did not heed the warning, three rounds were fired in the air. Even after this, the duo tried to flee and police shot into their legs.</p><p>Shashikumar said the two injured offenders identified as Vijay Annigeri and Muzammil Soudagar have been admitted to the hospital.</p><p>The arrested persons have more than 35 cases of robbery, theft and other offences registered against them in Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra, he informed.</p>
