<p>Kodagu district Congress committee president T P Ramesh has described the order of the deputy commissioner’s court annuling Congress members Srimathi Bangera and Meenakshi as the members of Madikeri City Municipal Council as a fitting lesson to dissidents within the party.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Addressing reporters on Thursday here, Ramesh said the duo had violated the whip and voted in favour of BJP candidates during the recently held election to the posts of president and vice president of the municipal council. Following this, the party had challenged the same in court and had also submitted relevant documents in support of the same.<br /><br />As per the proceedings, the duo had raised their hands in favour of BJP nominee in the election. The court found a clinching evidence in the same and found them guilty under anti-defection law.<br /><br />Ramesh said he has also convinced the high command to name a suitable successor to the district committee. Ramesh whose term ended last year itself, has been holding the post as acting president. Ramesh was recently nominated as the chairman of Karnataka Silk Marketing Board.<br /><br />Land issue<br /><br />In what may be termed as the clearance of hurdles towards building Congress bhavan in the district, the court has also ruled in favour of the party over the row that had erupted over 10 guntas of land (survey numbers 471/22 and 2/3), adjacent to Coffee Krupa building coming under Madikeri CMC limits. Janata Dal (Secular) party had moved court claiming ownership of the land.</p>
