<p>The mere fact that a youth who studied in the city has risen to the post of Chief Minister, it is little wonder that the city, especially its youth, are seen making desperate attempts to try and get a closer look at the young politician. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, alumnus of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) is in the city today.<br /><br />Ever since Yadav’s tour was confirmed on June 12, the office of B G Sangameshwara, the principal of the college has been flooded with calls from people within and outside the college.<br /><br />“Apart from the college (SJCE) faculty and students, students and faculty of other colleges, majority of them from educational institutions run by JSS Mahavidyapeetha, have been enquiring about participating in the college event. They have all been asked to come, but with their ID cards to avoid chaos and confusion,” Sangameshwara told Deccan Herald.<br /><br />Sangameshwara said that the quadrangle of the college had been readied with chairs to accommodate around 200 people. The invitees have been asked to occupy their seats in advance by 2 pm. Yadav may interact with the students, who too are eager to exchange information, added the principal. As it is examination season, those students who don’t have exams for the day or have completed the paper for the day, would be making it to the session.<br /><br />Though there is paucity of time, owing to the tight schedule, arrangements have been made to take Yadav around the campus, if he wishes to do so, said Sangameshwara.<br /><br />“However, it will be a simple ceremony, but will be a memorable one for the institution,” Sangameshwara added. Industrialist Mahesh Nagarajaiah, president of Alumni Association of the college has also been invited.<br /><br />Virtual fortess<br /><br />The city police have also made elaborate security arrangements following the VIP’s visit. Over 500 police personnel including civil police and four platoons each of KSRP, CAR and DAR will be manning the programme venues and routes. Especially, SJCE and Suttur mutt will be turned into a fortresses, as he would be staying for long at those two places compared to other places of visits.
