<p>Belagavi: After a fake social media post claimed that Colonel Sofiya Qureshi’s in-laws’ home at Konnur town in Gokak taluk of Belagavi district was “attacked, Belagavi Superintendent of Police Dr Bheemashankar Guled clarified on Wednesday that a person identified as Anees Uddin was behind the fake post</p>.<p>“The investigations into the post on X revealed that it had been made from Canada and it has been deleted after we stated that it was fake. We have sought information from X about the person who had made the post and action will be taken against him,” the SP told reporters.</p>.<p>“We have deployed police personnel near their residence for security,” Guled said.</p>.<p>“Police have been keeping a watch on the social media posts which create communal rifts. Action would be taken against those who make posts that create enmity,” he informed.</p>.<p>The fake post of X stated, “Qureshi’s in-laws’ home at Konnur in Belagavi district was attacked around 3 am by RSS extremists. Her son Sameer was brutally assaulted. The attackers searched for her daughter Hanima, who was fortunately in Delhi at the time. Assailants set the house on fire, shouted hateful slogans like “there is no place for Muslims in India - this is a Hindutva nation!” Indian Army has reportedly restricted Colonel Qureshi’s movement, and her entire family has been moved to Delhi for safety as her name is now allegedly on the RSS hit list,” the post stated.</p>
