The government schools across the state are all set to welcome kids back to schools after summer vacations.

As the schools re-open on May 29, the Department of Public Instructions has asked the school authorities to welcome kids by distributing sweets and also to decorate schools with festoons (Thorana) and create a festive mood.

“The idea is to attract students and encourage them to come to schools regularly. Every year we instruct schools to create a festive mood during the re-opening and the same will continue this year too,” said an official of the department.

Meanwhile, some of the school teachers said that they will prepare sweet and serve it with mid-day meal for the first few days. “We will not buy sweets from outside. Instead, we cook some sweet like Payasam or Kesari Bath in the school itself and serve with mid-day meal,” said one of the teachers working with a government school in Bengaluru rural.
