The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday issued notices Centre, State, Central Board of Film Certification and Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce while hearing the petition filed by Gowramma and Kariyappa, parents of late IAS officer D K Ravi .

The petitioners have moved the court seeking directions to the Regional officer, Central Board of Film Certification to withdraw the permission given for the screening of the Kannada film ‘Chambal’ in any film theatres and on celluloid media for the general public in the state or anywhere in the country.

The petitioners have contended that the film depicts a false image of late IAS officer D K Ravi who was regarded as an upright, brave and honest officer. However, in the said film, D K Ravi has been depicted as someone who falls prey to the land mafia and tax evaders mafia and is shown to be taking huge money from them.

The petitioners have sought an interim stay on the film which is slated to be released on February 23.
