Heavy rain inundates Kukke Subrahmanya snanaghatta

Incessant rain lashed Subrahmanya and the Western Ghats region since Monday night.

With the increase in water-level in Kumaradhara river, the snanaghatta at Kukke Subrahmanya was inundated.

The old bridge built across River Kumaradhara connecting Subrahmanya has also been inundated. Now, the vehicles use the new bridge adjacent to the old bridge to prevent inconvenience to the devotees.

Water from the Darpana Theertha river, a tributary of Kumaradhara, has entered farmlands.

The farmland of Kittanna Rai has been marooned. As a result, arecanut and coconut trees and banana plants have been washed away in water. Even the sprinklers have been damaged.

The rivulets in and around Subrahmanya are in spate. The rivulet at Padaka is overflowing. The small streams and rivulets at Hariharapallathadka, Kollamogru, Kalmakaru, Guthigaru, Panja, Balpa, Enekal, Ninthikal, Bilinele, and Nettana are in spate.

In the last 24 hours, Dakshina Kannada has received an average of 40.8 mm rain. Sullia received highest of 64.6 mm followed by Belthangady — 50 mm rain, Puttur — 46.4 mm, Bantwal — 29.9 mm, and Mangaluru —13.3 mm.

In Udupi

A house was partially damaged following gusty wind, at Muloor in Kaup TMC limits on Monday.

The house belongs to Sanjeeva Kotian.
