<p>Chikkamagaluru: Member of the Legislative Council, CT Ravi, expressed outrage, questioning how Muslims, who are the second-largest population in the state, can be considered a minority. </p><p>He stated that the authority to conduct a caste census lies solely with the central government, not the state government.</p> .<p>He pointed out that there are 56 castes within the Muslim community. There is untouchability in the community, yet no one discusses that. </p><p>There are Pasmanda Muslims, and even within the community, those believed to be descendants of the Prophet do not give their daughters in marriage to them. </p><p>“We do not support the policy of treating all Muslims as one group while dividing Hindus. Social justice is a commitment of the BJP,” he told reporters on Sunday.</p> .<p>He criticised the Congress government for not officially releasing the caste census report. He questioned how a community that forms the second-largest population in the state can be classified as a minority.</p><p>Regarding reservations, he noted that when a related case was ongoing in court, the central government had submitted an affidavit in favor of promotion-based reservation. This, he said, shows the BJP’s commitment to reservations.</p><p> “The BJP will never support the malicious intention of dividing society. Some people are trying to divide Hindu society along caste lines. Congress is spreading misinformation regarding the Waqf Amendment Act, just as it did earlier with the CAA. Such stances are anti-national positions of the Congress party,” Ravi stated.</p> .<p>“They are spreading false propaganda regarding the Waqf Act. No one will illegally seize land that rightfully belongs to the Waqf. But any encroached property must be relinquished. They claim farmers' lands and even temple lands with thousands of years of history as theirs. Such properties must be returned. Should they also be allowed to claim the Vidhana Soudha, Supreme Court, and High Court as their own?” he asked.</p>
